Solidarity with Striking Workers at UIC, ISU, Loyola, Harvard

The Graduate Employees’ Organization at UIUC, IFT/AFT AFL-CIO Local 6300 stands in solidarity with workers who are on strike or whose membership has voted to authorize a strike in the coming weeks. These include:

  1. The University of Illinois at  Chicago Graduate Employees Organization, Local 6297 AFL-CIO AFT/IFT;

  2. Illinois State University AFSCME Local 1110;

  3. SEIU Local 73 Non-Tenure Track Faculty at Loyola University Chicago;

  4. and the Harvard Graduate Students Union UAW Local 5118.

We stand in solidarity with our union comrades as they stand up for their workers’ rights, fair contracts, protections for international workers, and their dignity. As we enter a new bargaining cycle at UIUC, we are heartened to see the power of organized workers in standing up for basic rights and protections. We are united as we each fight for respect, fair wages, and worker protections in higher education. We call on the University administrations at UIC, ISU, Loyola, and Harvard to return to the bargaining table with fair and good faith proposals that meaningfully impact the workers who make their universities run.

If you would like to financially support striking workers, you can find their strike funds here:
