Grievance Request

If you believe you or someone you know of has had their Contract rights violated, this is for you!

Article XXI of our the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the GEO and the University explains the grievance procedure — the main way that TAs, GAs, PGAs, and RAs can formally complain and seek a resolution if their employer (a supervisor, department, or other part of the University) violates their Contract rights.

Before initiating the formal grievance procedure, the Contract requires that a TA, GA, PGA, or RA (or a GEO representative, such as a steward or GEO officer, representing them) attempt to "informally" resolve any issue(s) entailing potential Contract violations. GEO and the Grievance Committee strongly recommend that a written record be kept of all attempts at an informal resolution (such as an email chain, or detailed meeting notes). If the issue cannot be informally resolved, a TA, GA, PGA, or RA may initiate the formal grievance process.

All information is kept private. Grievance committee consists of GEO members and graduate workers just like you, trained to help others — so don’t hesitate o reach out!

Available to non-GEO-members!

If you are unsure about your case, want clarification or to learn more about your rights, or want to file a complaint, email grievance@uigeo.org to connect with our Grievance Committee.
